Slice Audio File Splitter - This audio file splitter that is designed to take mp3 files and cut them into either a set number of files or files of a set duration. Slice can also detect a specified amount of silence and split the file at these points. This is useful where you have many songs in one mp3 (for example an entire CD in one file) and need to split them up into individual tracks.

There are three basic slicing operations that can be carried out: Slice into x many files (slice one 10MB mp3 into two 5MB files). Slice into files of x duration where duration equals HH:MM:SS (split one 10 minute track into two 5 minute tracks). Slice into individual tracks using silence detection.

Hi, I find that it does what it says it does quickly and efficiently. The interface is straight forward and intuitive. It has certainly allowed me to do the necessary Slicing in double quick time. Overall it does what it says it does with minimum fuss. Well done!

Great product, i was looking for such a software for hours.

Only one thing: a graphical view of the waveform would be very useful the determine the exact volume and time for slicing.

hello there
I was looking for a program that could leave
a 2 second silence at the end of a mp3 file this
is a project for a community radio station for
better transion between mp3 files as most have
different silence endings after the music has finished I don't think your program can do it
but if I'm wrong could let me know or perhaps
advice me how to achieve this objective we have
about 30000 mp3's so it would have to be able
to do it in batches.

Works a treat!

Downloads and installs very easily. The interface is very straight forward to use, although so far I haven't had to alter any settings apart from the output file.

I've so far only used slice audio file splitter to split long mp3 files into individual tracks. This simply entails loading the file(s) using the first tool bar button "add files" selecting the output location for my sliced files using the browse button below the files window. The split is based on the software locating gaps between individual tracks and the gap length can be altered although the preset one second was fine. Hit the slice button at the bottom right hand corner and very quickly the software does what it says on the tin!

The options button allows you to alter various settings for mp3,ogg,flac and wave file settings. You can re-encode mp3s with other settings but if you're happy with the bit rate, just leave the settings alone (default is lossess slice).

All in all, I love it for it's simplicity and zero learning curve.

Excellent File Splitting Utility

I used it to split a 6 hour audio file into 10 minute segments in order to accomodate my mp3 player.It worked perfectly the first time. I'm no technical genius but I had no trouble figuring out the interface. Highly recommended.

Very Pleased

Love the program. Not only did I get the Audio File Splitter, but I also got Stamp ID3 Tag Editor & Switch Sound File Converter. Both are things I also do with my audio files. All 3 programs are very simple to use, no need for instruction manuals (Lets face it, who wants to read one to use a program...). They all do exactly what I want.

too many files

Splitting a file by size or number is easy as pie, but looking for silences can be a bit un-intuitive as you tend to end up with a huge number of files. Playing around with the level setting does alleviate it, but it is a trial-and-error approach

Good, but I like another program better!

The Slice Audio File Splitter Worked Descent, and overall I was satisfied but there is still another type of program that I like better. But otherwise I was very satisfied with the turn out.

First Try

Program installed easily and was very easy to use.
The only issue I have come accross is with recorded LP's that are not "clean".
It would be nice if there was some better filtering for peaks or various frequencies.

Able to create individual mp3 from one mp3...

I had a large mp3 file that had 10 songs on it. I used Slice to split it up, but I had to do it manually because the auto feature did not work (there were silent passages in the music). The manual option is not on the main GUI, so I had to search for it off the regular menu, and found it OK. Then I found that I was downloading WavePad... After this I had to figure out exactly how to use WavePad, as there are so many options, but I finally figured it out OK and created individual mp3 files using these two programs together.

Did not work!!

I tried to split a large compilation MP3 by using the silence detection method (methos #3)(in fact i tried it on two different "Album" MP3 files)and I tried tweeking all the settings but it did not work! It appeared to be finding the split points and then splitting them but when I went to the output folder it was empty?
